"In the last Provincial Election, we ran against each other as candidates for the NDP and Green Party in the riding of Vancouver Kingsway. We argued some, agreed on much and enjoyed the campaign. Together, we won 58 per cent of the vote in our constituency.
However, progressive voices in our community cannot be divided if we are to take back City Hall from the NPA.
As Vancouver prepares for one of the most important civic election in its history, there is something we both agree on – the Vancouver Kingsway Provincial riding has two strong candidates for City Council running for the nomination for Vision Vancouver – Andrea Reimer who lives near Trout Lake and Dr. Kerry Jang, who lives in Renfrew-Collingwood. For our communities, traditionally under-represented in civic politics, Andrea and Kerry will make sure that our issues are on the table.
Andrea and Kerry bring a great deal to this campaign. Andrea is a nationally-recognized advocate for environmental issues. Kerry is a renowned expert on mental health and addiction policies. Together they will not only represent our neighbourhoods with determination but make Vancouver a more just, more sustainable, and healthier place to live.
On September 20th, (not to mention November 15th), please consider Andrea Reimer and Kerry Jang."

"Dr. Kerry Jang has a long history of working in neighbourhoods on homelessness and prevention. His expertise and experience in community mental health and drug addiction has led to award winning programs. The City of Vancouver would be well served to elect Dr. Kerry Jang as a council member."
Jenny Kwan, MLA

"Dr. Kerry Jang has a long record of community and political activism on behalf of Vancouver's citizens. He has earned his stripes.
Dr. Jang's background in mental health provides the insight necessary for a City Councillor to help achieve meaningful progress on our desperate social issues of drug addiction and poverty. Kerry's idealism and good humour are tempered by the practical understanding that good politics are the 'art of the possible', and that we must keep our focus on the important issues of social and economic justice, environmental sustainability, and a livable city. As an accomplished academic and teacher, Kerry has the discipline and scepticism to search for real understanding, not just 'bandaid' solutions' or politically saleable 'quick fixes'.
Kerry Jang will be a City Councillor we can trust to remain approachable, open to new ideas and the many perspectives of Vancouver's diverse ethnic communities, and to work hard for constructive solutions and improvements in our real quality of life. I have appeared many times before Vancouver City Council as a concerned citizen - but often felt that I was speaking to closed ears and minds. Kerry Jang is someone who would listen, since he believes in grass roots democracy and the possibility that citizens may have some of the answers to the problems that affect us all."

"Kerry Jang is what Vancouver city council needs right now... somebody to connect the dots between homelessness, mental health, economic poverty, academics, arts & culture, community activism, ethnic diversity and civic pride.
Kerry sees beyond buzzword topics or flavour-of-the-month sound bites. He knows that everything is interconnected in synergistic balance, and he wants to find new ways to fix the old problems by finding real solutions. He's the real deal with a sense of humour. Kerry brings us a new perspective for a new era."

"Kerry understands many challenges different ethnic communities in Vancouver face when it comes to making a better life for their families. He has worked hard overcoming cultural barriers to promote better mental and physical health. He brings different communities together to work as one and is easy to talk to about concerns and solutions. He is honest and realistic, and that is why I support him for Vancouver City Council."

"Kerry combines so many qualities we want in a council candidate. He is an inclusive community leader who introduced so many innovative projects as President of Collingwood Neighbourhood House.
An internationally renowned expert on mental health issues, he has so much to offer our city at a time when the lack of mental health services is so profoundly felt. Brilliant, compassionate, fun-loving and approachable Kerry will make a great City Councillor. Simply put, if elected he will make Vancouver a better place to live for all its citizens and neighbouhoods."
Adrian Dix, MLA Vancouver-Kingsway
"I whole-heartedly support Kerry Jang’s nomination for Vancouver City Council. I have known Kerry through his community activism in the Collingwood Renfrew area for many years. Kerry has always been a strong voice for our diverse community. He knows the issues and is eager to hear all points of view. He understands the importance of fostering healthy community values. We need his voice at City Hall."

"Kerry has been there for us time and again in our darkest hours and come through brilliantly. I have no doubt he will be there for Vancouver, to do the tough analysis, to make the tough decisions with the authority that only one who has been through the dark times can claim. That is what he does best."
Bill McMichael, neighbourhood advocate (Renfrew-Collingwood)
