City proclaims March 8 as International Women’s Day in Vancouver

Deputy Mayor Kerry Jang yesterday proclaimed March 8 as “The International Women’s Day” in Vancouver to commemorate the 100th anniversary of this special day and to honour the struggle for equality by women in the last century.

Councillor Ellen Woodsworth said despite some elevation of women’s status in the past 100 years, there’s still a long way to go before true equality between men and women is achieved.
